AARON SCHUMAN è un fotografo, scrittore, curatore ed educatore americano. È autore di diverse monografie fotografiche acclamate dalla critica, tra cui: SONATA, pubblicato da MACK, citato come “Best Photobooks” del 2022 e candidato al Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2023; SLANT, pubblicato da MACK, citato come “Best Photobooks” del 2019 da numerosi fotografi, critici e pubblicazioni tra cui The Guardian, Internazionale, Photobookstore e Deadbeat Club Press; e FOLK, pubblicato da NB, citato come “Best Photobooks” del 2016 da Alec Soth (Photoeye), Sean O’Hagan (The Guardian) e Jason Fulford (TIME), e candidato al Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2017. AARON SCHUMAN is an American photographer, writer, curator and educator. He is the author of several critically-acclaimed photographic monographs, including: SONATA, published by MACK, which was cited as one of 2022’s “Best Photobooks” and long-listed for the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2023; SLANT, published by MACK, which was cited as one of 2019’s “Best Photobooks” by numerous photographers, critics and publications including The Guardian, Internazionale, Photobookstore, and Deadbeat Club Press; and FOLK, published by NB, which was cited as one of 2016’s “Best Photobooks” by Alec Soth (Photoeye), Sean O’Hagan (The Guardian), and Jason Fulford (TIME), and was long-listed for the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2017. Schuman’s work has been exhibited internationally – at institutions such as Tate Modern, Hauser & Wirth Somerset, the Institute of Contemporary Arts (London), the Centre for British Photography, the Ethnographic Museum Krakow, Micamera (Milan) and elsewhere – and is held in many public and private collections.

Furthermore, Schuman has served as curator for several international photographic festivals – including Krakow Photomonth 2014 and JaipurPhoto 2018 – and has curated major exhibitions for museums, institutions and galleries such as FOMU Antwerp, FotoFest, the Houston Center of Photography, and the Royal Photographic Society. He is Associate Professor of Photography & Visual Culture – and the founder and Programme Leader of the MA Photography programme – at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol).
